Who many times should i run a week?

I just had a baby about a year ago and have not lost any of the baby wieght. Well i am getting married May 30th 2009 and want to be a lot smaller in size by then. I wear a 9 size pant right now and would like to be in a 4-5 pant by then. I have started to run every day for .7mile and my body is killing me. the think is I am down right sick of looking like i do and want so badly to be in shape and have my old smokin body back. my shins are killing me but i have been running though the pain every day because i want to look good again. so i guess my question is.... will running every day help or hinder? what should I be doing to get my old pre baby body back? thanks for your time
