Any way to get cheap tickets to El Salvador, around Dec. 14th?

I keep hearing of people getting roundtrips for like, 450-500 USD, yet whenever I search for tickets, they are always 800 or more. How do people find these deals? I need a round trip to and back from San Salvador, El Salvador, from Dec. 14th and return about Dec.23rd or so. Where should I look?
